Privacy Policy

Harbors Calculators is a static site with no accounts, no login, no database and no forms. That shapes everything below: there is very little for us to collect, and this page is mostly a list of the things we do not have.

What stays on your device

Every calculator runs in your browser. The numbers you type, the currency you pick, the result and the schedule are worked out on your own machine and are never sent to us. We could not show you your own past calculations if you asked, because none of them ever reach a server of ours.

The same goes for three things people reasonably expect to be tracked:

• Site search. The search index is downloaded to your browser and queried there. What you search for is not sent to us.
• Downloads. The PDF, spreadsheet, CSV and image are generated in your browser. No copy passes through us, and we do not know you made one.
• Preferences. Your chosen currency and unit system are kept in your browser's local storage so you do not have to set them twice. They sit on your device, carry no identifier of ours, and clearing your site data removes them.

There is no newsletter, no contact form and no account system, so there is no list to be on and nothing to unsubscribe from.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs: the IP address a request came from, the browser's user agent string, and which page was asked for. They exist so the site can be kept online and abuse can be traced, which is the ordinary arrangement for any site on the internet. We do not use them to build a picture of individual visitors.

Advertising

Status: advertising is not running yet. This section describes what happens once it is.

The site is paid for by advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partner vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites, which is how the same advert ends up following you around the web.

You can turn personalized advertising off at Google Ads Settings. You will still see ads; they just stop being chosen from your browsing history. What Google does with the data is set out in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, personalized ads need your consent first. That consent is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform, and it will be in place before any advert is served.

Analytics

Status: analytics is running on this site.

If analytics is added, it will be to answer questions about the site rather than about you: which calculators get used, which pages people leave quickly, whether something is broken on one particular browser. That involves a cookie or similar identifier set by the analytics provider, and the consent requirement above applies to it too in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything about them. Since we collect nothing from anyone, there is nothing of theirs for us to hold, but if you believe otherwise please tell us.

Your rights, and where to exercise them

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA as amended by the CPRA in California give you rights over your personal data: to see it, correct it, delete it, or object to its use for advertising. We are not claiming a certification under either, and this page is not one. What we can tell you is how those rights play out here.

We hold no accounts, no profiles and no record of your calculations, so a request to us for a copy or a deletion would come back empty. The data that does exist about your visit sits with two other parties, and each has its own controls:

• Google, for advertising cookies and personalized ads. Use Google Ads Settings and the partner-sites page linked above.
• Our hosting provider, for server logs. Those are kept for security and reliability and are deleted on the provider's normal schedule.

You can also clear this site's local storage at any time through your browser settings, which removes the currency and unit preferences described above.

Sites we link to

We link out to sources so you can check a claim against the body that made it. Those sites have their own policies, and this one does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. If a change matters, such as advertising or analytics going live, the status lines above will say so rather than leaving you to work it out.
